Preserving Fremont Place for the Future
Fremont Place is an historic neighborhood. We are fortunate to live among an array of period revival homes, mostly built in the 1920’s and 30’s. Fortunately, most homes have the same façade as the day they were completed. Our beautiful homes are set back from the street with landscaped parkways. Each block has houses of similar scale and the size of each house is in proportion to the size of the lot. This is the basis of the “character of the neighborhood.”
Beautiful, stable, urban neighborhoods like ours are in great demand, and our neighborhood has recently experienced an increase in renovation and expansion projects. Some of these projects have permanently altered the existing character of the street and could ultimately affect property values. Fremont Place is fortunate to have a means to protect the architectural heritage of our neighborhood while still managing changes. As a non-profit corporation, the Fremont Place Association’s Code, Covenants & Restrictions (CC&R’s) includes some historic preservation guidelines.
At the request of residents, the association has begun the process of reviewing the CC&R’s to develop additional guidelines that would better preserve the architectural heritage of our neighborhood. The association welcomes the participation of all owners in this process to insure everyone’s interests are considered. Historic preservation of our neighborhood will enable the continuing appreciation we currently enjoy of property values in Fremont Place.
